Bessie’s original ceramic designs are wheel thrown or hand built out of various clay bodies. Bessie’s process involves decorating each item by hand, skilfully painting on slips and glazes, then carving and embellishing the clay before the initial bisque firing. Special techniques using layers of colour are then applied between firings. Finally, each item is glaze fired and ready for use.
Each piece is completely unique, evoking the essence of the Australian bush and capturing the natural beauty of her subject matter.
